Desktop computer repair
Branded office PCs, assembled towers and all-in-ones. Most desktop faults come down to the power supply, RAM, the hard disk or the board, and we check them in that order.
We repair desktop computers, all-in-one PCs and monitors at our shop in Tragad, behind Nirma University, and at homes and offices nearby. Branded machines (HP, Dell, Lenovo, Acer) and locally assembled PCs both come through our bench.
Common desktop problems
- No power at allSMPS, power button, or the board. Check the wall socket and UPS first.
- Power on, no displayRAM contacts, graphics card, monitor cable or the monitor itself.
- Restarts on its ownOverheating, failing SMPS, or a bad RAM stick.
- Very slow, hangsFailing hard disk, often the reason. An SSD fixes it.
SMPS (power supply)
The SMPS takes the most punishment in Ahmedabad: voltage dips in summer, power cuts, and dust. A tired SMPS shows up as random restarts, a PC that only starts on the second try, or a burning smell. We replace it with a branded unit of the right wattage. Cheap unbranded SMPS units are a false saving because they often take the motherboard down with them when they fail. Approx ₹1,200 – ₹3,000.
Motherboard
Swollen capacitors, a dead BIOS chip, burnt USB or LAN ports, and power section faults can all be repaired at component level, the same way we handle laptop boards. For older desktops where a replacement board is easy to find, swapping the board can be cheaper; we compare both.
Monitor repair
No picture with the power light on, a picture that appears for a second then goes dark, or lines across the screen. Backlight and power board faults are repairable. A cracked panel usually isn't worth repairing on monitors under 24", and a new monitor works out cheaper. Approx ₹800 – ₹3,000.
All-in-one PCs
HP, Dell, Lenovo and Acer all-in-ones pack laptop-style parts behind the screen. We repair power, storage, RAM and display faults on them. Because the screen and computer are one unit, they're best brought to the shop rather than fixed onsite.
Upgrades
The upgrades that make a real difference, in order of value:
- SSD in place of the hard disk. Boot time drops from minutes to seconds.
- RAM to 8 or 16 GB, for Tally, Excel and many browser tabs.
- Graphics card, only for design, video or gaming work.

Common questions
My desktop makes a click and switches off. What is it?
That's very often the SMPS (power supply) protecting itself because a part is failing, or the SMPS itself has worn out. It's one of the cheaper desktop repairs.
The PC beeps when I switch it on.
Beep patterns are the motherboard telling you what's wrong. Repeated long beeps usually mean RAM. Cleaning the RAM contacts and reseating it fixes many of these.
Can you come to the office instead?
Yes. For offices in Chandkheda, Tragad, Motera, Jagatpur, Gota and Zundal we can check and fix most desktop faults onsite. Board-level repairs still come back to the shop.
Is it worth upgrading an old desktop?
If it has an Intel 4th generation processor or newer, an SSD and 8 GB of RAM make it feel quick again for office work. Older than that, a refurbished desktop usually gives better value.
