Lenovo faults we see often

SeriesWhat usually comes in
IdeaPad / IdeaPad SlimCharging port, keyboard after spills, slow hard disk models, screen
ThinkPadBattery, keyboard, display, older models needing an SSD
ThinkBookCharging, keyboard, Wi-Fi card issues
YogaTouch screen and hinge (they flip 360° and wear faster)
LegionFan noise, overheating, charging under load

The Novo button trick

A lot of "dead" IdeaPads that reach us aren't dead. Lenovo has a small pinhole on the side or bottom (the Novo button, or a battery reset hole). After a deep battery drain, the laptop sometimes won't wake until it's pressed. Try holding it for 10 seconds with a SIM pin before you assume the worst. If nothing happens, see laptop not turning on.

ThinkPads are worth fixing

ThinkPads are built to be repaired: standard screws, replaceable keyboards, easy battery access on most models. A five-year-old ThinkPad with a new battery and an SSD is a solid machine. We also sell refurbished ThinkPads for students and offices.

Common questions

My Lenovo won't turn on but the charging light blinks.

Try the reset first: many IdeaPads have a tiny pinhole (Novo button) or a battery reset hole underneath. Hold it with a pin for 10 seconds, then connect the charger. If it still doesn't start, bring it in.

Can a ThinkPad keyboard be replaced easily?

On most ThinkPads, yes. The keyboard is screw-fixed and separate from the case, so it's a quick swap.

What does Lenovo Vantage's 'conservation mode' do?

It stops charging at around 55–80% when the laptop is plugged in most of the time. It's worth turning on if you mostly use the laptop on the charger, because it slows battery wear.
