Router and firewall setup
Default passwords changed, a separate guest Wi-Fi, risky sites blocked for staff or kids, and a firewall for offices that handle customer data.
Surya Computers configures routers and installs business firewalls for homes, shops, offices and institutes in Chandkheda, Tragad, Motera, Jagatpur, Gota and Zundal.
Router basics we set on every visit
- New admin passwordNot the default from the sticker.
- WPA2/WPA3 Wi-FiOld WEP or open networks closed.
- Guest Wi-FiVisitors kept off your PCs, printers and cameras.
- WPS offA common weak spot on home routers.
- Firmware updatedSecurity fixes from the maker.
- Fixed addressesFor printers, NVRs and the Tally PC.
When an office needs a real firewall
A provider router is fine for a home. An office with customer data, accounts, several staff and remote access needs more: content filtering by category, blocking of known malicious sites, VPN for branches and remote staff, and logs showing what happened when something goes wrong. A small business firewall does all of that in one box. [CONFIRM: firewall brands you install]
Signs your router needs attention
- You have to restart it every day or two
- Unknown devices appear in the connected list
- Wi-Fi name and password haven't changed in years and everyone has it
- Internet slows down badly in the evening even though your plan is fast
Common questions
Why change the router's admin password?
Many routers ship with a default admin password that's printed online for every model. Anyone on your Wi-Fi can log in and change settings. We set a strong one and note it for you.
Can I block certain websites for staff or children?
Yes. Basic filtering can be done on many routers or with filtered DNS. For offices, a business firewall gives proper category filtering and reports.
Do I need a separate guest network?
If visitors, customers or students use your Wi-Fi, yes. It keeps them away from your PCs, printers and cameras.
