Lost the old adapter? The laptop's sticker underneath usually shows the input rating, or send us the model number.
Common pin types
- HP: blue-tip 4.5 mm on many models, USB-C on newer ones
- Dell: 4.5 mm with a centre pin, USB-C on newer models
- Lenovo: rectangular "slim tip" or USB-C
- ASUS / Acer: various barrel sizes, USB-C on thin models
Is it the charger at all?
If a known-good charger doesn't charge the laptop either, the fault is in the laptop: the port or the charging circuit. See charging port repair. We test before selling you a charger you don't need.
Common questions
Can I use a higher-wattage charger?
Yes, if the voltage and pin match. The laptop only draws what it needs. A lower-wattage charger is the problem: slow charging, overheating, or the battery draining while plugged in.
Will a phone USB-C charger charge my laptop?
Only if it supports USB Power Delivery at enough wattage, usually 45 W or more. A 20 W phone charger may charge very slowly or not at all.
Original or compatible?
Original adapters last longest. Good compatible ones work well and cost less. Avoid unbranded very cheap adapters; they're a common cause of charging-circuit damage.
