Laptop hinge and body repair
The lid wobbles, the corner near the hinge has cracked open, or the screen bezel lifts when you open it. Hinge damage gets worse with every opening, so fix it early.
We repair broken laptop hinges, cracked hinge mounts, lids and body panels at Surya Computers, behind Nirma University in Tragad. Common on HP 15s, ASUS VivoBook and Acer Aspire models.
How hinge damage progresses
- Stiffness. The lid takes more effort to open. Grease has dried, or dust has got in.
- A small crack at the bottom corner of the screen, near the hinge.
- Bezel lifts when you open the lid, and you can see the hinge bracket.
- Mount pulls out of the bottom case or lid. The screen wobbles.
- Display cable damage. Flickering, lines, then a dark screen.
Most laptops we get are at stage 3 or 4. Getting to it at stage 2 is cheaper and quicker.

Opening the lid the right way
Open from the middle of the top edge, not from one corner. Corner-opening twists the lid and puts all the force on one hinge, which is why the left or right side usually breaks first. If the laptop has a stiff hinge, it's worth a cleaning before it cracks anything.
Common questions
Can I keep using a laptop with a broken hinge?
You can, but each opening pulls the hinge further out of the case and bends the display cable. What starts as a ₹1,000 mount repair can turn into a screen and cable replacement.
Will you use glue?
Glue alone doesn't hold a hinge mount for long. We rebuild the mount with a metal insert or replace the back panel, depending on how much plastic is left.
Is a stiff hinge a problem?
Yes, it's often the first sign. A hinge that has seized puts the force on the plastic mount instead of turning. Bring it in before the corner cracks.
